One of my favourite places to visit in the UK is Llandudno on the coast of North Wales. Often overlooked and overshadowed by larger towns and cities, the north Wales coast has so much to offer. There are many cottages to rent in and around North Wales and it is a great base for visiting other nearby towns like Chester and Wrexham.
Seeped in history, Llandudno is a traditional Victorian seaside town that has been attracting visitors for over a hundred years. Since the development of the railways between Chester and Holyhead, people have been flocking to Llandudno for sea air and to refresh their batteries.
The wide promenade stretches around the bay and is lined with ever popular hotels and guest houses on one side and the golden sand and glistening sea on the other. The beautiful Victorian architecture gives the town a sense of opulence and a walk down the promenade is a must on a day out to the town.
From the promenade, head down the Pier that stretches well out into the sea. The pier is lined with small kiosks selling ice cream, rock and souvenirs as well as amusement arcades. Take your loose change and play on the two pence machines. The end of the pier is a haven for fishing enthusiasts but is also the place to get a great view of Snowdonia when looking back towards the town on a clear day.
End the day with a paddle in the sea (on a warm summers day only, unless your very brave!) and a tray of fish and chips, just watch those cheeky seagulls don’t pinch any!
