Gather invites you to share your favorite vacation photos in the Gather Travel Essential (travel.gather.com). Each day from now until Sunday, October 12th, we'll randomly select one member to receive 100 Gather Points ™ for their travel photo. But that's not all – after October 12th, the Gather Editorial Team will select their favorite travel photo to receive 1,000 Gather Points! They will also give away 500 Gather Points to a second member for writing their favorite comment on that winning photo.
How to participate:
- Between Monday, October 6th and Sunday, October 12th, 2008, post your favorite travel photos to Travel.gather.com. You may only post one photo per day as an entry to be eligible to earn the 100 or 1,000 Gather Points ™ for this promotion. You must also include the word "travelphoto" as a tag to help us determine entries from non-entries. *
- Visit Travel.gather.com to comment as often as you like on your favorite travel photos. (You could win points!)
- Between October 6th through October 12th, Gather will randomly select one participant for each day to receive 100 Gather Points ™.
- After October 12th, Gather Editorial will select their favorite from all the photos submitted. The member who posts it will receive 1,000 Gather Points ™. Gather will also select their favorite comment on that winning photo. The writer of it will receive 500 Gather Points ™.
Note: If your photos are already published to Gather, please re-post them as a new photo. This makes it easier for the Gather audience to find and comment on your photo between October 6th - 12th.
How to post and tag a photo:
- Roll your mouse over the Explore tab at the top of any Gather page or visit your My Gather page
- Select "Share"
- Click on the “Share a Photo” button
- Browse to select and upload your photos
- Feel free to fill in details about the photo in the “Photo Caption” box
- In the "Photo Tags" box, be sure to add the word travelphoto
- Decide who can view your photos by making a selection from the "Who can view this photo" field; photos can be public or private
- Select Gather Essentials: Travel
- Click "Submit"

But even travel on a day trip is still travel, right?

I wish I had my photos on my computer.
It's downstairs on my hubby's and his computer won't let me comment on Gather at all.
I can submit another today, but why bother?
In regards to the original post date, the rules have been changed to make it clear that all photos must be posted between October 6th - October 12th. Everyone who submitted older photos were contacted yesterday with this clarification.

Why? Because we choose a new winner everyday between now and October 12th. And even if you're not selected then, you're still eligible for the 1,000 Gather Point prize!

You may repost a photo that you had on Gather previous to the contest. But you'll need to upload it again so it has a publish date within the contest period. Between October 6th through October 12th, Gather will randomly select one participant for each day to receive 100 Gather Points ™.
