I just finished the best vacation I ever had by touring seven states aboard the California Zephyr traveling from Toledo, Ohio to Roseville, California to visit my sister. I feel like I had two vacations in one. I could not imagine the breathtaking beauty of the scenery from Denver to Roseville. God's handiwork in His creation is indeed awesome! Colorful formations of canyons, hills, valleys, rivers, desert, sand dunes, mountains, farm terrain, towns and villages captivated my mind for three full days. Photos don't do justice. The train gave an undistracted view of miles and miles of rolling natural beauty. If God gives us this richness for our tainted earthly home, what must heaven be like!
Amtrak is a good value for transportation and the best way to tour the country. Prices are very reasonable, and service is very accomodating. I slept in the coach section which I preferred to the close secluded quarters of sleepers which were filled up by those who value more privacy.
I would like to take another tour next year. Is there anyone who has been on the Southwest Chief who would like to comment about this experience? Are there any who have travelled the whole country through the All Aboard America fare deal?
I highly recommend travel via Amtrak for those who have the time and stamina for this type of journey.

Stay tuned for more tales from Amtrak travelers.
Not only is rail transportation a good way for people to travel, it is also most inexpensive to move belongings from one state to another. Also there is the auto train which goes to Lorton, VA if you need to move your car and don't want to drive that distance. I recently moved from the Tampa Bay area of Florida to Toledo, OH. Amtrak Autotrain does not go as far as Toledo. I cannot do long distance driving. I paid to have my car shipped via a truck transporter. Using the internet, I found good rates, but I know the Autotrain is a good deal for anyone along its route. I hope her move goes very well.
